Face the Music

For today it is time to face the music.  For the sins of this world have filled the cup to overflowing and it is time for a reckoning.  It is time for each person to understand their iniquity and the results that it brings to this life and the life to come.  But you need not fear this judgment if you have met with me first.  For I will not surprise you in the day of judgment, but My desire is to reward you for your acts of righteousness. Therefore seek me while I can be found.  Reconcile your account and come into the days ahead with the confidence that comes from a pure heart and a clean conscience.  Come and face the music now before the drums of judgment begin to sound.

Matthew 5:25

Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.

Commentary

This prophetic word encourages us to reconcile with God now before you have to face Him on the judgment day.   This word discusses two judgments, the judgment that takes place when you die on this earth and the judgment of this earth that takes place on all of the earth at the end of this age.  However this word is focusing on the personal judgment each of us will have when we meet the Lord.

Hebrews 9:27

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment

I believe many will be surprised when they meet the Lord, but this word says that you do not have to fear this day if you have made your reconciliation with Him before that day.  I believe that many who think they are saved and reconciled with God will be surprised on that day as referenced by Jesus:

Matthew 7:22-23

Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'

Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

Matthew 25:10-13

But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.

Later the others also came. 'Sir! Sir!' they said. 'Open the door for us!'

But he replied, 'I tell you the truth, I don't know you.' Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

In both cases if the people would have spent personal time with the Lord before the judgment, then they would have had tie to reconcile the relationship before the judgment.  Somehow, we are able to understand this concept in our personal relationships, but do not consider this with the most important relationship in this life, and the one to come.

Consider Matthew 5:25 above.  Your adversary in court will be the law of God and only a settlement while you are “with Him on the way” will save you from the judgment.
