Leave Yesterday Behind

Leave yesterday behind. Lay down the past successes and the past failures. Leave the glory and the recognition and the guilt and shame at the altar. For cleansing only comes through cleaning out and making room.

So make room for my glories and my victories and my miracles.  For the enemy desires to shift you like wheat.  The enemy desires to use your successes and your failures to shift you but if you put them down the strongman cannot use them against you.  You can fight him without even taking a shot by bringing them to Me.

Your failures and broken heart are but a momentarily affliction and your successes and recognition are but a temporary glory - praises from the world that are quickly forgotten.  But the successes I desire are those that yield to Me.  Yield to the Holy Spirit within.  For the spirit will not guide you astray.  For He desires to complete the work that has been started in you and all you have inherited from the throne room above shall not fall away or be wasted.

Philippians 3:12-14

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.  Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Commentary

This prophetic word encourages us to change our focus from our worldly victories and failures, in order to “make room and focus on the work that God is doing in this hour.  Though past victories and failures often seem to define us, only by laying them down can you focus forward to what God is doing.  This will also disarm the enemy of your soul who uses the past of the flesh to keep you from pressing forward into the future of the Spirit.

The second part of the word compares the very temporary nature of the past works in the flesh to the eternal rewards of God’s work.

The last sentence refers to the gifts and talents that we have been given from God and how we must be prepared for the judgment by fully utilizing what God has invested in us for His glory.  Consider:

Matthew 25:14-18

Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them.  To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.

The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more.  So also, the one with the two talents gained two more.  But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money.

The parable continues to show that on His return, the two who invested will be blessed, but the one who hid his talent will lose everything.
