The Flood Reveals

Raise the standard, for the enemy comes in as a flood.  But you will not be shaken.  For you are founded upon the rock of Your salvation, and you will not be moved.   For the steadfastness of your faith in Me spells defeat for the enemy that seeks to overwhelm you.  And in but a few days it will be your turn to rise up and be noticed.  For the flood reveals that which is has a true foundation.   And those that stand shall be a refuge and a strength, a beacon of hope.  Prepare to give an account as a witness of He who gives strength and wisdom in times of trouble and confusion.   Prepare the way for those that come seeking, and I will give them rest.

Isaiah 59:19

So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

Luke 6:47-48

I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice.  He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.

Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Commentary

This is a word of warning, but also of victory.   To raise up the standard is to lift high the banner of Jesus Christ.  When I looked to the scripture reference in Isaiah 59:19-21, I realized that this is a prophetic passage about Christ who will intercede against the overwhelming enemy even though Israel has turned from God.   This appears to relate to His second return.   This continues into Isaiah 60:1-3  that says:

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.  For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.  And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

Therefore, the word can be interpreted as saying that God’s prophetic pattern can be manifested in our life to raise up the standard of Jesus as the enemy comes in as a flood.

Jesus warns of this flood in Luke 6:47-49 (when the flood came, not if).  But once again He gives a promise that He will show you what it is like if you come to Him, listen to His voice, and put it into practice.  To me this describes faith, that is, to come to Him, get a word (promise) you can put your faith in (believe God), and put it into practice (exercise your faith).  It also confirms that you must be built on the rock (Jesus).

In this prophecy, God uses the word ‘founded’ on the rock.  I looked up the word and found the definition below:

found  (found)

tr.v. found·ed, found·ing, founds

1. To establish or set up, especially with provision for continuing existence: The college was founded in 1872.

2. To establish the foundation or basis of; base: found a theory on firm evidence.

I believe this ties with having your foundation on the rock (Luke 6:48).  I particularly like the part about a provision for continuing existence.

But as the word continues, it promises that very soon, after the flood, you will be exalted as in Isaiah 60:1.  This will come because the same flood will devastate many not founded on the rock, but you will still be standing.   This will bring forth the opportunity to be a witness of the power and grace of Jesus Christ per His word in Acts 1:8.  For the definition for witness is:

WITNESS

1 : attestation of a fact or event : testimony

2: one that gives evidence; specifically : one who testifies in a cause or before a judicial tribunal

3: one who has personal knowledge of something

4 : something serving as evidence or proof :

So after the flood subsides, you will have the first hand (personal knowledge) evidence, to give your testimony about the power and grace of God.  You can be the evidence that He lives today, and delivers His people from the destruction of the enemy.

One final thought.  I pray that this word will also stand for America, who like Israel, has turned from Him, but hopefully will remember a covenant with our country’s forefathers.  So raise the standard of Jesus Christ through prayer and praise.  For the flood is coming.  Bless His holy name!
