Strange Fire

Yes, this is an election year.  All of the world and church politicians seek election and re-election.  The campaigns of many will vie for your attention.  But They cannot lead you to safety, health, wealth, or prosperity.  They cannot solve the problems of this world.  Though the Sauls continue to offer strange fire, you must wait for Samuel to make an acceptable offering.  For Samuel represents My Spirit and My timing.  Though the people get restless, you must wait for My Spirit.  For as Saul was tested, he feared loss of His glory more than mine.  And so it will be with this Saul generation.  But know that true Spirit of David, My chosen, has already been anointed and waits only for the fullness of time before the Kingdom comes.   Therefore, fear not the testing of your faith and even the loss of your glory.  For rewards come through testing and trials and it is My good pleasure to bless you with great rewards.  For I hold the true glory of the Kingdom and I give it to those of My choosing, not those of the worlds choosing.

1 Samuel 13:8-14

He (Saul) waited seven days, the time set by Samuel; but Samuel did not come to Gilgal, and Saul's men began to scatter.  So he said, "Bring me the burnt offering and the fellowship offerings." And Saul offered up the burnt offering.

Just as he finished making the offering, Samuel arrived, and Saul went out to greet him.  "What have you done?" asked Samuel.

Saul replied, "When I saw that the men were scattering, and that you did not come at the set time, and that the Philistines were assembling at Micmash,  I thought, 'Now the Philistines will come down against me at Gilgal, and I have not sought the LORD's favor.' So I felt compelled to offer the burnt offering."

"You acted foolishly," Samuel said. "You have not kept the command the LORD your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time.  But now your kingdom will not endure; the LORD has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him (David) leader of his people, because you have not kept the LORD's command."

Leviticus 10:1-3

And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.  And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

Commentary

As the word came to me, I was seeking the Lord for perspective on the situation in our country and presidential election at hand.  However, the word that I received extended the focus to all that are vying for the vote of God’s people.  We are truly still under the reign of the king Sauls who are the choice of the people.

Let’s consider how Saul became King.  In 1 Samuel 8 the situation was that God’s people wanted a King, like all the other nations:

1 Samuel 8:5-7

They said to him (Samuel), "You are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have."

But when they said, "Give us a king to lead us," this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD.  And the LORD told him: "Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king.

Consider that whether you are a politically a democrat or a republican, a liberal or a conservative, that both George Bush and Barak Obama were elected by the people of the United States.   And yet our problems remain.  Consider the order of the King listed in 1 Samuel 8:

1 Samuel 8:11-18

He (God) said, "This is what the king who will reign over you will do: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots.  Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots.  He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers.  He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants.  He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants.  Your menservants and maidservants and the best of your cattle and donkeys he will take for his own use.   He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves.   When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day."

The problem is not just that we have the wrong president, it is that we have turned away from God from being our King, as a nation, and even individually.   However, as was for Israel, God has chosen and anointed a king of His choosing (David), and the turmoil and failures of Saul are only preparing the way for the true king that God has chosen, even Jesus Christ and His queen, the true church.

So there are those that are of Saul and those that are of David, and it seems that Saul is still in charge just about everywhere including the church in many cases.  This word says that the Sauls will try and keep power over God’s people by acting holy and even trying to fill the role of a priest in order to impress the people.  But to God this is strange fire that is an unholy sacrifice not done by God’s priest or in God’s way as we read by the sons of Aaron and by Saul.  The result for Saul was tragic, but it was a testing from God for Saul and he proved that he was more concerned with winning the vote of the people than with winning the favor of God.   But as Saul was tested, so was David with a different result that prepared him to receive the favor of God and to inherit the kingdom.

The word indicates that the testing is continuing for both the Sauls and the Davids.  Therefore, it is critical that we endure and overcome the testing of our faith that tries our hearts that we may receive the kingdom as did David.   For it is an by inheritance, which means that we didn’t built it, nor earn it, but it is given to us by our Father who loves us.  Consider David’s words:

Psalms 37:9

For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
