Citadel

Let not your heart be troubled.  Trust in Me.  For this is a year of intimacy and love with Me.  This is a year of pursuing and fulfilling dreams that we have shared.  The world will continue in chaos, but I will keep in perfect peace those whose hearts are stayed on Me.  For I am preparing a citadel for your life on My holy mountain.  A place of refuge and strength from which to watch and intercede for My will.   Let this be the place of your dwelling from which to live this life from My perspective.   Let the love and security of My presence overcome the fear and worry of this world.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life, as you dwell in the citadel of the Lord.

Psalms 91:1-2

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."

John 14:1-3

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.  In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Commentary

The prophetic word offers a citadel as place of security and peace in a secure fortress where you can dwell.   The word ‘citadel’ means:

·        A fortress in a commanding position in or near a city.

·        A stronghold or fortified place or refuge

The terms ‘fortress’ and ‘stronghold’ imply a well protested and secure place.  But the use of the term ‘commanding’ in the definition implies more than a passive position of security.   It also implies a high place with a clear perspective of the ‘city’.  This definition tends to follow the prophetic word in that while this is a place of closeness, intimacy, and security with the Lord, it is also a place of vision and power to pursue and fulfill your calling.

The use of the word ‘dwelling’ implies more than just visiting or a place of service, it implies a home where you live.  Psalms 91 is a psalm of comfort and protection for those that ‘dwell’ is the shelter of God in His shadow.  The reference to His shadow seems to indicate a very personal closeness.  So the wonderful promises of Psalm 91 require that you ‘dwell’ or live in this citadel of His presence.

The reference to John 14 also follows along with Psalm 91 and the prophetic word.   Though this scripture is often related to a final fulfillment on the return of Christ, I believe it can also agree with this prophecy and Psalms 91.  Consider that all three seem to relate to a promise of security and peace now.   All three ask for trust and all promise a strong refuge now.  All three relate to an intimate closeness to God and Jesus now.  A closer look at the Greek words for ‘house’ and ‘rooms’ in John 14:2 show that the word for ‘house’ is ‘oikia’ (3614) which can also mean family such as the house of Jacob and imply something more than a physical building.  Also the word for ‘rooms’ is ‘mone’ (3438) that is only used one other time by John, and it occurs in the same chapter in John 14:22:

John 14:23

Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home (mone) with him.

Here it certainly means more than just a physical ‘room’, but implies a place of dwelling within us for God himself.   Amazing!  Therefore, the promise in this prophetic word is for a dwelling place within us for God, and yet a dwelling place for us with Him in heavenly places.  Awesome!!
