Paul declared to the church of Ephesians that their identity in this world can only come from the Father. In Christ the character of individuals are shown by the fruit they bare. We were once of the world but now we are a part of the kingdom. Paul prophesied to the church that works cannot give us more grace, mercy, and faith, but it is the revelation of the gospel of the cross that reveals to us as individuals that Christ has finished the work that we strive to gain in the kingdom. We know that faith without works is dead but working out faith without having our identity in Christ makes our labor in vain.

The Lord says: When you receive the revelation of your identity in Christ and walk out the sonship that you have in the Father, then His grace and mercy will carry you to the purpose and promise that He has been waiting to reveal in you.

Ephesians 2:6-7

And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly {places} in Christ Jesus, in order that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
